Last month, the great and the good of Essex donned their finest red and black outfits and masks to enjoy a night of glitz and glamour for a good cause.
The ball took place at the beautiful Manor of Groves Golf and Country Club on the 5th February. The red and black theme continued into the ballroom’s decoration, setting the mood for a glittering Valentines Dinner and Dance.
The ball was in aid of The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Charitable Trust. This brilliant charity helps those suffering from breast cancer in the local area by funding drugs not available on the NHS, running drug trials, supporting nurses and running other local schemes that make coping with or recovering from breast cancer just that little bit easier.
Following the champagne reception and a fair bit of mingling, guests took to their tables for the delicious three course meal and speeches from iN Magazine’s Editor Rose Keen and Dr. Ashraf Patel from the charity. Rose used her speech as an opportunity to congratulate and wish bon voyage to the twelve members of the ‘Kili 2011 Trek’ team. All of whom were jetting off to Tanzania later that week in order to take on Africa’s tallest mountain, Kilimanjaro, also in aid of the PAH NHS Trust. Everybody joined in a round of applause for the twelve intrepid individuals.
There was live entertainment in the form of speed painter Jen Allen who created canvases of Hollywood idols in a matter of seconds and magic from illusionist Darren Red. After the dessert plates were cleared away, live music from The Mighty Dukes had everyone taking to the dance floor.
The charity auction was incredibly popular and had everyone bidding generously for luxury lots such as a spa break at the palatial Stoke Park Country Club and a signed Banksy print.
In total the evening raised thirteen thousand pounds for the charity and iN Magazine would like to thank all those involved for helping make it happen.
