Last month saw the long awaited launch party of the unfeasibly cool Ajiba Gallery in South Woodford. Located on the Raven Road estate, the warehouse style studio space combines the industrial with the luxurious with the aim of creating a unique urban art experience.
The launch party saw a guest list of artists, friends and press come together to mingle, peruse the collection and even make a purchase or two, all whilst enjoying a glass of wine and a nori roll or three. It was a laid back but glamorous event with some of the more provocative works giving rise to more than a little debate amongst the stylish attendees, our personal favourite being Dereck Rose’s paisley skeleton installation ‘The Bone of a Hero.’ Art Agent Barbora Jelenova remarked on the launch ‘I really enjoyed seeing all that amazing art and meeting new people in such a warm artistic venue.’
No doubt one of the most original venues in Essex, this great space is available to hire for private functions. Like the majority of works available from the gallery, Ajiba is definitely a one off.
