Priscilla Queen of The Desert, Palace Theatre, London.
Brash, trashy and oodles of fun, this Aussie Drag Queen road trip musical is about as subtle as being stood on by one of the cast’s glittery sling backs. But thanks to a sound track of roaring femme anthems – such as ‘I Will Survive’ and ‘Mamma Mia’ - it makes for a thoroughly enjoyable if kitsch evening at the theatre. The story may lose something without having the beauty of the Australian outback as a backdrop, but despite often venturing into garish territory it is one hell of an all singing all dancing ride.
