With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, men across the globe are grappling with the problem of what to buy that special person,
and this motoring correspondent’s no different. But, worry-ye-not ladies, for here at iN we’ve been selflessly scouring the new-car pages for the answer to that question.
And it’s thanks to this spirit of camaraderie that Fiat’s appropriately named 500 Pink comes to grace these pages. With the same cutesy good looks of your bog-standard 500 – that’ll be an adorable front end and perky behind - the special edition adds a generous dollop of pink to the equation. We weren’t sure it was possible to make the 500 any more girly but, credit to Fiat, they’ve managed it.
The paint-work’s not the only, err, good news as the Pink carries over all the strengths of the standard 500. So you can count on a cool retro dash that blends perfectly with the exterior curves, yet comes kitted out with modern features like Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning and yet more pink.
Running costs are kept to a minimum by the car’s 1.2 litre engine which features stop-start technology giving the Pink 55.4mpg potential and CO₂ emissions of 119g/km, qualifying it for road tax of just £35 a year.
Exclusivity will be the Pink’s biggest draw as only 500 will be built. Fiat told us that the majority have already gone to their new homes.
For any men or less girly girls who are still reading, this 500 may become a guilty pleasure were you too invest, thanks to nippy handling and the free revving nature of its engine -which needs to be thrashed to make decent progress. Dynamically, the jiggly ride is the only real party-poo-per.
Which leaves only one question to be answered... the cost of rosé colored ritual humiliation? That’ll be £11,700, please.
